My name is Kim, and I am a dedicated dog trainer with a passion for helping dogs and their families build confidence and become a closer team. I love to work with fearful, shy, and reactive/aggressive dogs.
Dogs have always had my heart. As a kid they were my best friends. I lived on a farm and spent countless hours outside with just my dogs. Over the years I became the go to dog person for friends. I was the person they called when when there were dog emergencies or if someone was needed to take care of their dogs. I trained my own dogs and helped out friends with basic obedience and behavior training.
My professional journey into the world of dog training began in 2021 when I started working at a doggy daycare and boarding facility. I ran groups of 60+ dogs and was in charge of behavior assessments for all new dogs. The more time I spent working with dogs, the more fascinated I became by their body language and social interactions. I developed a deep passion for understanding the inner workings of canine behavior. It quickly became clear to me that working with dogs isn't just my passion, it's my calling.
Once I decided to be a dog trainer I jumped in head first and things progressed quickly.
I started to work with, and learn from, two different dog trainers. I apprenticed under Chelsea Tuning (Fine Tuning Dog Training & Deaf Dogs of Oregon) and was mentored by Doug Duncan. (Doggy Business) Between the two of them, I logged hundreds of hours in behavior assessments, training sessions, board & trains, and general dog work. I've done rescue work - inside of shelters and out. I took classes, attended webinars, and immersed myself in the study of dog behavior, learning theory, ethology, and safety.
All of my learning, hands-on experience, and dedication to the craft of dog training culminated in me earning my CPDT-KA credential.
